Douglas Barnes, one of the members of our teaching team, will be giving a 2-day workshop on Water-Harvesting Earthworks in Guelph on May 18 and 19. This workshop aims to give students a practical understanding of the water-harvesting earthworks techniques used in permaculture. A theoretical session will be taught in which a variety of approaches will be introduced, including dams, swales, ripping, site assessment and design. Students will have practical hands-on time for site measurement, design, layout and implementation. The topics covered in this course will allow students to assess and design their own sites.
During this workshop, students will get to see a subsoiler do ripping on the site.
